We recently asked our staff members some questions so that you could get to know them a bit better.
Meet Jennifer McKinnish Burton!
Q: What is your job title at McKinnish Law Group?
A: Owner/Partner
Q: What does your job entail?
A: I am the primary domestic relations attorney in the firm. I also am transitioning into the Social Security arena. As owner, I am responsible for pretty much everything from making sure our heating and air is working correctly to finding CLEs that would be beneficial for our firm.
Q: Why did you want to practice law?
A: I love helping people. I am a people person and a people pleaser!
Q: Where did you receive your law degree and when?
A: I received my law degree from the University of Memphis in 2005.
Q: What areas of law do you practice?
A: I practice family law (custody, divorce and adoption), Social Security, criminal defense and general civil litigation.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like making a difference in people’s live. I enjoy that when people are having a tough time – divorce, injured, or in a bad situation from a poor choice – I am able to help solve the problem.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: I love spending time with my two children. We love Wednesday nights at our church, going to park and even just trips to the grocery store. I am a HUGE football and Lady Vols basketball fan. I watch sports from August when football kicks off until the NCAA Basketball Championship.
Q: What do you like most about East Tennessee?
A: I love the mountains of East Tennessee. My family and I enjoy being outdoors with the beautiful Smoky Mountains as a backdrop.
